Annual General Meeting - December 9th, 7:00 pm via Zoom

We would love to hear more opinions from the boating community. Tell us about your concerns, what issues are impacting your community, and what actions you want from CVBA.  The AGM is a great opportunity to do this. Please attend our meeting. Email columbiavalleyboating@gmail.com to request a zoom link by December 8th.

Year In Review

This past year CVBA made great progress in protecting boaters' rights and promoting more responsible boating practices. Some of our accomplishments in 2025 included meeting with both RDEK and the District of Invermere where we advocated for a balanced policy that recognizes the critical economic and social importance of our lakes in addition to environmental values. CVBA launched the Lake Windermere Boater's Responsibility Code with 10 standardized boating practices that will improve conditions on the lake for all users. We installed signs at high volume access points and handed out rack cards to boaters. Our membership grew by 42% in the past year and many generous donors provided CVBA with operating funds to continue our work.

CVBA is working to ensure regulatory discussions are balanced, measured, and fact-based, and working to become a trusted alternative to the groups that are trying to limit recreational boating.

We are excited about continuing this work in 2026 and this starts at the Annual General Meeting. Please join us.

The CVBA is seeking members from Columbia Lake communities. We have liaisons in most Lake Windermere communities who assist with communications to and from their community. We do not have these liaisons in place for Columbia Lake. Please reach out to us so we can more actively participate in Columbia Lake initiatives. Winter recreation on the lake will be starting very soon. It has been warm lately and there is almost no ice on the lake yet. Skating, skiing, ice fishing, etc. are great winter lake activities. The Toby Creek Nordic Club are the local experts for all things nordic skiing and Whiteway skating. Their website has up to date trail reports all winter long.
